Tips for watching the Band Festival
For those of you who have not attended a Lake Waconia Band Festival, or if you are not familiar with the Waconia Area, here are some tips to make your experience an even better one!

Parking: There are public lots available for parking, but they fill up quickly. Most any side-street has parking available on the street. There is, obviously, no parking allowed on the parade route.

Viewing Areas: There are ideal places to sit on the Parade Route if you want to see EVERY band play their shows. Each band will play for sure in three areas. Sitting in front of the City Park is site #1. The judging area is located along Main St. between Olive St. and Vine St. Each band will also play after turning by Bayview Middle School on their way into the Carver County Fairgrounds.

Food/Refreshments: Anyone is welcome to bring along a cooler with food or drinks. Food is, however, available for purchase at various points along the route. Hot dogs, pizza, hamburgers and more are available in the City Park. More food choices are usually found at or near the judging area.

Chairs: You don't have to sit on the curb! Please feel free to bring along a blanket or chairs to sit on to enjoy the day. And remember your sunscreen if you are sitting out all day!

Programs: Programs are available and should be available in the park or along the parade route. These are very helpful is finding out more information about each band, and to have the parade order handy!

Where to Sit: What side of the street should you sit on? Generally, sitting on right side of the street provides the best view of the show. Most shows are designed to be performed to the right side of the band. So for the Lake Waconia Band Festival, sitting on the opposite side of the park, and on the side of the street by The Green Door and Frost and Steam would be the best.

Awards Ceremony: The public is welcome to watch the awards ceremony at Bayview Middle school following the parade. The Waconia Drumline leads all the commanders into the field to accept their awards. The Lake Waconia Band Festival also has a history of a grand entrance as the parade results make their way to the announcer. It is definately recommended for everyone to see the results. You can judge the bands yourself during the parade and then find out how you did later!
